TechEd Amsterdam - Day 2

Two sessions done, two to go. I thought my security session went ok - there are lots of aspects of Office solution security that confuse people. Mainly because there are so many different ways to build solutions based around Office, and most of these approaches have different security/deployment constraints and options. I actually find it useful to tabulate the options from time to time, to clarify them in my own mind.

For my VSTO-2005 session, I tried to focus on the technical detail. There are so many new features in VSTO-2005, in terms of view/data design separation, new IDE development tools, new VSTO libraries, enhanced security/deployment model, embedded application manifests, databinding, new view controls, the managed ActionsPane, disconnected and server-side document processing, and on and on.

My intention was to cover the technical information in as much detail as possible within a 75-minute slot, and to avoid too much marketing hype. This did seem to resonate with the very knowledgeable European audience (although I do believe at least one fellow went to sleep - I guess that's the price I paid for not putting on the razz).

So if I can manage it in time for my next session, I plan to have dancing girls, acrobats, fire-eating jugglers, singing elephants and wortels (these are orange, and very Dutch).
