Smartest Band of the Century

Is Linkin Park www.linkinpark.com

Why is LP the smartest band of the century. They keep craking out content.

This band has released 4 (soon to be 5 at end of nov) albums and 1 EP since 1999. They were the #1 album

This is more than one album a year since their first album. This is what bands are supposed to do. Once you become popular you better keep the momentum up. Keep creating great music and people will stick with you. Linking park follows in the steps of some of the greatest bands: The Beatles, Led Zepplin and Van Halen. If you take a look at these bands you will see that they released great album after great album year after year.

All bands should take business lessons from Linkin Park.

I agree, LP has it together. I don't own any of their CDs (though maybe I should give them a try).

LZ was in a league of it's own.

Let me add the following:

Yes (Yes, Time and a Word, The Yes Album, Fragile, and Close to the Edge) from 1969 to 1972

Rush (Rush, Fly by Night, Caress of steel, 2112, A Farewell to Kings) from March 1974 to September 1977

Emerson Lake and Palmer (Emerson Lake and Palmer, Tarkus, Pictures at an Exhibition, Trilogy, Brain Salad Surgery) from 1970 to 1973

All 3 (strangely) began with their band name as their first album name.

ELP and Yes never did anything substantial after that, but that's more a tribute to how powerful their early albums were. But successful "businessmen" they were NOT, especially Yes. Most of the members spent all their money right away.

Rush, on the other hand, started fairly strong and continued to evolve creatively. Anytime they fell into a rut, they re-created themselves. They also managed their careers better. They've also stuck together from 1975 to the present...30 years together, surviving legal battles, several label changes, and personal tragedies. While ELP and Yes were highly creative for a few years, Rush is (IMO) the greatest overall group of all time.

(And I believe Rush has listed LP is one of their favorite groups to listen to)
