World Series of Poker Tales

As many of you know poker is all the rage these days. I started playing poker in casinos around 7 years ago at the Monte Carlo Casino in Las Vegas. I caught the bug and have been playing ever since.

I went and played in the World Series of Poker this year. The WSOP is a 30 day event where many different games of poker are played. I went to play in the $1500.00 buy in Omaha 8 or Better game. Omaha is a 4 card game with a high/low component. The high hand is a normal high poker hand. The low part of the game is played where there need to be 3 different (not paired) cards 8's or under on the table for there to be a low hand possible. The best low hand is a wheel A2345. You don't need to declare high or low you can play both.

Anyway, I played in a couple of sattelites trying to win my entry. I screwed my 2nd satellite up by not making someone go All in with their last chips. That cost me my part of the winnings at the sattelite.

So I paid my $1500.00 bux and took my seat at my 1st WSOP. There were 360 people in the event I recall. So I sit down. To my left is Max Stern from Costa Rica wearing a WSOP bracelet. Across from me is David Levi another pro. 2 seats from my left is another pro (cannot recall his name, he was tough though). And finally around 10 min into the tournament sat Erick Lindgrin. You might recall seeing his face a few times. He won 1,000,000 on the World Poker Tour. So here I am little old me with 4 of the toughest poker players on the planet. It was gonna be a long day. Long story short you won't see me on ESPN. But I wasn't the 1st at my table to go. Nor was I the 1st person out of the tournament. There were 300 left when I bombed out.

The WSOP was a great deal of fun and I'l take a shot again next year.
