"Property doesn't exist or is used in a manner inconsistent with schema settings"
Scenario:
· Did a site collection restore (using a copy of a SharePoint 2010 backup file) into a new environment
· Services were enabled and full search crawl was executed
· Functionality and content seemed to be complete and accurate
· Did a search and received “Property doesn’t exist or is used in a manner inconsistent with schema settings” error
Resolution
· Technical documentation maintained during the construction of the original portal showed that a custom managed property was created and used as a search refiner
· Added custom managed property and search worked fine (i.e. refiner came along with the backup but the managed property did not)
· Elapsed time: 10 minutes
Moral
· Keep good technical documentation on your environment and, when in doubt, refer to it first!
