Syncing Your Blackberry with Microsoft Online Email
Have you heard about Microsoft BPOS (Business Productivity Online Suite)? If not, you will soon! BPOS is a service that allows access to standard Microsoft technologies like Exchange, SharePoint, LiveMeeting and Office Communicator "in the cloud" (meaning they are hosted external to your company and are accessible via the internet). As someone who has kicked the tires on how these really work for day-to-day business activities, I have been very impressed. That said, there is always a technical challenge to talk about...
I needed to find a way to sync a Blackberry with Microsoft Online email. Having gone through the Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) setup with no luck, I came upon this blog posting on steps for success. It mostly worked for me... one thing I needed to change was the OWA (Outlook Web Access) url. The blog post suggests using "https://red001.mail.microsoftonline.com" but I found I needed to use "https://red001.mail.microsoftonline.com/owa/". Anyway, it works now and email to the Blackberry is working great.
