Giving Someone SharePoint User Profile Management Rights
Scenario: You have given someone rights into SharePoint Central Administration but when she clicks on 'User profiles and properties' (see image below) she is prompted for credentials and is denied access. How do you allow her to manage user profiles?
Answer: Click the 'Personalization services permissions' link and edit the rights for this person (or associated group). Make sure 'Manage user profiles' is selected.
