See You at SharePoint Connections in April 2008

It seems like it snows here (Boston) every day!  The only thing getting me through all of this shoveling is the thought of going to Florida in April.  April 20-23 to be exaxt... I am speaking at the SharePoint Connections conference.  For those who have never been, SharePoint Connections is part of a collection of technology conferences called DevConnections.  I have had the opportunity to attend and speak at this event in the past and it is, in my opinion, one of the best.  The staff runs the conference flawlessly and the topics/sessions are high value.  Plus, for those who live in Massachusetts, this is April vacation week... take the family with you... the alignment is so perfect that the Red Sox are even at Tampa Bay later that week.  You can walk away a SharePoint rock star and earn family points.

Here are my sessions.  Hope to see you there!

HDV301: Building Custom Navigation with SharePoint
Flyouts, Breadcrumbs, Left side/right side hyperlinks...all are great ways to get users to the sites they are looking at. And yet business users complain that SharePoint navigation is still too confusing. This session will walk the audience through the development of a custom navigation control for SharePoint. It will use the SharePoint object model and contextual awareness to help show users where they are, where they have been, and where they can go. Be a portal rockstar when you get business users to the right place in fewer clicks!

HDV104: Business Intelligence Deep Dive with SharePoint
Business Intelligence. It’s the holy grail of IT initiatives. Taking the data that you already collect and manage and harnessing it into an easy-tounderstand interface for rapid decision making. Sounds fantastic. How can SharePoint help? This session walks you through multiple BI examples, showing the integration of SharePoint with a wide range of Microsoft and 3rd-party products, from Analysis Services to Reporting Services to Excel Services to 3rd-party charting tools. What do you use when? How do you know that things are really working? This session offers tremendous takeaways for any developer or IT manager responsible for their corporate BI strategy

HDV306: Custom Site Provisioning with SharePoint
Do you really trust your business users with the SharePoint Administration page? Wouldn’t it be great to have a custom site provisioning tool that gave them the sites they needed but didn’t put the portal at risk? This session will do a code deep dive into SharePoint site provisioning. Using the SharePoint object model, the speaker will demonstrate how to use .NET custom development to build a site provisioning tool that any business users can use. All code will be shared with the audience.
