Interesting Tidbit on SharePoint 2007 Search Keywords
Here's an interesting user experience that I came across and struggled to explain (until now!)... SharePoint 2007 search results apply security trimming, meaning you only see what you have permissions to access. In some instances, however, users were reporting that they were seeing results that, once clicked, prompted them for credentials and ultimately denied access. How are they seeing results that they shouldn't?
There is a Microsoft KB article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923900) that provides the details... this is a feature of Best Bets ("A keyword best bet is a document or page URL that a site administrator selects for a particular search keyword")...
In SharePoint Server 2007, items in the search results that are associated with a keyword best bet can be viewed by all users. Although all users can view these items, users must have appropriate permissions before they can access those particular items.
