Will GMail really offer a terabyte of storage? No.

Gizmodo and Bladam are both discussing a rumored bump in storage at Google's fledgling GMail service to one terabyte! Does anyone really need a terabyte for e-mail? If this comes to pass, the notion that Google has a bigger plan than just e-mail certainly has more validity.

Gmail Raises Some Limits to One Terabyte

Mine still says 1000 MB, but some people are telling me that their Gmail account limits have been boosted to 100,000 MB, or one terabyte. Rumor has it that all Google employees have had terabyte limits for a while, but is Google considering raising the limit for everyone?

UPDATE: Turns out this was just a bug in the system, according to eWeek:

The e-mail storage race appeared to have reached a new height this week when test users of Google's free Gmail service noticed having not just 1 gigabyte of storage, but 1 terabyte.

But the appearance of the "1000000 MB" ticker at the bottom of their Gmail inboxes was no more than a system bug that Google Inc. is working to fix, the company confirmed Wednesday.
