Spybot Search & Destroy 1.3 released
The newest version of Spybot Search & Destroy has been officially released and should be part of your PC security toolkit. In combination with Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D provides excellent protection from spyware, browser hijacking, key loggers, tracking cookies, and other digital vermin.
The new version has a redesigned interface that is much easier to use, more informative, and more attractive. A couple of nice new features have been added, included a startup wizard that offers to make a backup copy of your registry file to assist with repairing your system if you are infected, a dialog that asks if you want to create a System Restore Point before making changes after a scan, and a new resident monitor that pops up alerts when applications try to make changes to the registry.
Spybot has an extensive range of immunzations that can be installed to prevent infection by a host of known nasties. The new version features an easy to use startup manager that provides control over the myriad programs that launch when you boot up whether they're located in your Startup Items folder or hiding out in the registry. You can also view running processes in version 1.3.
Spybot Search & Destroy is freeware, but donations are accepted (and I encourage you to support this author - he's been at it for a long time and has solved a lot of problems for a lot of people).
