Basecamp - "blog simple" project management on the web

I discovered this web-based project management tool a few weeks ago and have been dabbling with it in preparation for a collaborative project to develop a book proposal. Basecamp is deceptively simple to use (very easy but a ton of features) and can actually be set up in less than a minute.

The free account they offer is limited to a single project and monthly subscriptions are priced according to the number of projects you need to manage. A basic subscription lets you manage 10 projects at a time for $19.00 per month. The premium package offers unlimited projects for $59.00 per month. With any of the paid accounts, you a get a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. If Basecamp doesn't meet your needs, you can cancel in the first thirty days and there's noc harge.

Here's a screenshot of the Dashboard - the "home page" for a project (opens in a new window).

For distributed teams, mobile workers, or anytime, anwhere access to project information and correspondence, Basecamp might be just the tool you need. The web site is full of information with lots of screenshots and the free account lets you dive right in and give it a try. Well worth checking out.

Basecamp: Web-based Project and Idea Management

Web-based project management the way it should be:

  • Easy setup - 10 seconds to a new project

  • Blog simplicity - Posting project updates couldn't be easier

  • Simple scheduling - What's due, when it's due, who's responsible

  • To-do lists - Make sure all the little things get done

  • Web-based and hosted - No install or IT staff required

  • Useful technology - RSS, iCal, and Mozilla Calendar integration

Finally, everyone's on the same (web) page

Basecamp is a web-based tool that lets you manage projects (or simply ideas) and quickly create client/project extranets. It lets you and your clients (or just your own internal team) keep your conversations, ideas, schedules, to-do lists, and more in a password-protected central location. And unlike most project management products, Basecamp is a breeze to use. Take a tour of some key features or try it free today!
