Windows Home Server RTM
Read all about it:
Windows Home Server moved from Beta to RTM
I am always between two scenarios, maintaining my servers at home to keep up with technology and learn how things work to use in my daily professional work. The software you write always interacts with the platform(s) and network it is installed on so you better know what it is and how it works. And yes ... there is the family at home who don't (want to) know all of this but do complain when the pictures, music and scanned documents are not available!
Well ok, stop complaining ... there is now the Windows Home Server box. With some luck your grandparents can manage the box :-)
Especially the solution the WHS developed to make sure disks are always available is impressive. When a drive failes the other drive(s) take over. Replace the disk and the failed disk is rebuilt to it's original state.
WHS is only available through OEM, you have to buy a box with the server installed on it. This is done exactly for the same reason: You buy the machine and it simply runs. Already there are six OEM builders who decided to jump on the bandwagon.
