In my plan to create some documentation to build a SharePoint Server 2007 VPC both with it's own developer environment I was thinking of the following software requirements:

Demo machine Orcas

  • Virtual PC 2007
  • Windows Server 2003
  • SQL Server 2005 with SP2
  • MOSS 2007 Enterprise
  • Visual Studio Orcas
  • Internet access

Demo machine Visual Studio 2005

  • Virtual PC 2007
  • Windows Server 2003
  • SQL Server 2005 with SP2
  • MOSS 2007 Enterprise
  • Visual Studio 2005
  • Internet Access

In my next post I will make a start to describe how I install the VPCs. Hopefully this will work right away but in the end it may well be that I have to go back a few steps to fix the installation. My goal for all of this is that in the end I will have a documented manual and be able to reproduce the VPCs if I need them. Maybe someone else can benefit from this exercise too ...

Don't hesitate to drop in some comments if you think you have better options to do this installation right. But remember, initially this will not be a manual to create a production environment but merely a step by step document to build your own demo machine...
