I planned to do this for some time now, I created a couple of screenshots while I was upgrading one of my machines from VSTO 2005 to VSTO 2005 SE.

The machine that was upgraded here had Windows XP on it and had VS2005 and Office 2003 installed. The reason for me to install it was to test backward compatibility. After installing VSTO 2005 Second Edition I checked to see that a couple of document level addins created with VSTO 2005 would continue to work. Well, they did not break and no issues were found.

Step 1 - Welcome Dialog

If you want to send Microsoft your installation experiences enable the checkbox on this dialog. I prefer to do this as my policy is that if everyone sends in this information bugs are solved in an earlier stage. Everybody happy.

Step 2: License Agreement

You have to accept the License Agreement before you can go to step 3. Enable the checkbox to confirm and accept the agreement and click the Next button.

Step 3: Installation Destination

In this installation it was not possible to change the location due to other installed items. Click the "here" link to get some more info if you want.

Step 4: Installation Progress

Not much to add here ...

Step 5: Installation Progress

Visual Studio 2005 Tools for Office Second Edition Runtime installs...

Step 6: Installation Progress

Step 7: Installation Progress

That's it... Piece of cake. And your VSTO 2005 stuff is still working.
