Update: PDFs and SharePoint

I just found out through LauraJ that MS has released a KB article about indexing Adobe PDF files in SharePoint. This has some more info to go with my previous blog entry about this same procedure, but it doesn't tell you how to find the icon. I scoured my PC looking for the 16x16 icon that you see associated with PDF files, but I couldn't find it even with an icon extractor tool poking into every Adobe related file on my system. Bizarre that I had to get it from Google, butwhatareyagonnado...

Damn, I should have submitted my tip to the KB as Community Solutions Content, but MS beat me to the punch!

You can also get it from Adobe. You have to agree to a Terms of Use at http://www.adobe.com/misc/agreement.html or you could just skip right to it ;-) http://www.adobe.com/images/pdficon.gif Enjoy, and I'm hoping to get a chance to meet you at the MVP summit. lj

This sort of stuff on indexing .pdf files has been in the WSS FAQ (wss.collutions.com) for a long time (since it started during the beta) - although I only added this new adobe link for the icon there around about the same time as this message came from LauraJ. I now also have a link to a set of icons - not just .pdf in other words.
