In case you have missed this aricle on MoneyCentral:
"The integration of desktop tools with enterprise applications is a two-way street that brings personal productivity, which in turn translates to improved corporate productivity. Aberdeen, a Harte-Hanks company (NYSE: HHS), recently conducted a benchmark report titled "Two Worlds Converge: Enterprise Applications Meet the Desktop" and discovered that Best-in-Class (BIC) companies see a 20% increase in gross margin and 21.3% increase in revenue year-over-year, with a ratio of revenue growth to staff growth of 2.2. This compares with less than 1% increase in gross margin, 1.6% increase in revenue and a ratio of revenue to staff growth of .7 for Laggard organizations."

Check out this recorded interview with Epicor's technical folks - the conversation about OBAs and Office as a front end to Line of Business starts at about 2:03 into the recording. Enjoy!

Josh Greenbaum has posted an article highlighting the great opportunity Microsoft has with OBAs:
"OBAs are Outlook, Excel, or Word interfaces to back-office ERP functionality, and their ascendancy would make Office the user’s entrée into the ERP world instead of a proprietary Windows client or enterprise portal interface. Judging from the initial reaction to the original OBA – the SAP/Microsoft joint product called Duet – and the early indications of interest from customers for the newer, non-SAP OBAs, this is Microsoft’s opportunity to change the face of enterprise software"
Granted, Josh points out a few wrinkles Microsoft has to iron out before the smooth sailing to the ultimate success and i am confident that over time, we definitely will.

It has been over 2 years since I started working on Duet (Project Mendocino back then). It has been a great fun and I have enjoyed tremendously both the product and the folks on the Duet teams (SAP and Microsoft). I have decided to do something a bit different this time around, and joining Office Business Applications marketing team was a logical and exciting choice. I will keep you up to date on the OBA front - here is the most recent article about the topic.
I will most likely won't be able to track Duet closely but Ian Tien in his blog does a great job. Enjoy!
