We got one too (the Acer Ferrari laptop issue)
Count OZ as another site that received a laptop to review courtesy of Microsoft & AMD. Wow - quite a firestorm of controversy around this. Personally, I would have much preferred the chance to converse with Bill Gates. I'd place more value on that than reviewing Vista on a shiny new laptop (not that I'm complaining). The controversy has been hashed out and documented in several sites across the web (lots of links on this posting). The firestorm went into high-gear when someone misrepresented their laptop in an initial post without disclosing that he received it from Microsoft. Additionally, others have labeled the act as bribery.
Call it what you will, I'm going to take the opportunity to test it out and then give it away on OZ when we're done reviewing it (Ryan is going to review it also). This is clearly what the intended purpose of the laptop was and I intend to follow through. I believe you're smart enough to determine for yourself what is valuable insight and what is garbage. Also, I will repeat the disclosure on any blog post related to this particular laptop and Vista as long as the laptop is in my possession.
