Save Time with Outlook Shortcut Keys

I love shortcut keys. I'm so frustrated when I watch user’s waste time clicking and clicking and clicking. I do agree that clicking is easier in general, but for tasks that you perform 100 times a day, it all adds up to a lot of extra effort.

For example, the average Outlook user probably switches between their inbox, calendar and contacts numerous times a day. Now this is easy to do. Click on Calendar and your in calendar. Click on Contacts your in contacts.

However, it is a good idea to find quicker methods for anything we do repetitively. To accomplish the above tasks:

  • Press CTRL+1 for your Inbox
  • Press CTRL+2 for your Calendar
  • Press CTRL+3 for your Contacts
  • Press CTRL+4 for your Tasks
  • Press CTRL+5 for your NoteS
  • Press CTRL+6 for your Folders

There is an easy way to remember these shortcuts. If you have the navigation pane open (which is on by default), you’ll see each of the above mentioned items in order: Mail (1), Calendar (2), Contacts (3), Tasks (4), Notes (5), and Folders (6).

What is your favorite shortcut key?
