Use Word as a Reporting engine

I came across an interesting product called Winward Reports. Windward Reports is a J2EE report engine that uses Microsoft Word as its layout tool -- so creating reports is fast & easy, for both technical and non-technical users.

This is a great approach to report writing. The concept of giving users a tool for report writing a tool they already know could make it easier to get users involved in the process instead of spending valuable developer/administrative time.
