Tweaking Newsgator
As some of you may know, I am a loyal fan of Newsgator, the superb RSS aggregator Outlook Add-in. A while back I suggested for performance and storage size reasons that you should create an external Outlook storage file (PST) and point Outlook to that folder.
Well over the last 6 months I began to notice that my Newsgator was not as fast as it was in the past (Not slow, but not as fast). After looking, my Newsgator.pst file had grown to over 1GB. Outlook has done an admirable job in managing the file size. However, I don't need 1GB sitting around.
So I created a new Newsgator2.PST and re-linked to it. Now I have a little more performance and don't have a 1GB of history sitting around.
Now I know that some of my readers like to use LookOut to search their RSS aggregated Archives. Even so, I'd suggest creating a new PST Folder every once in a while and archiving your old one.
