IBF: Go Serverless!

For the record: IBF does not require a server. Yep... you heard it here. Contrary to popular belief, the server component for Information Bridge Framework is optional.

Of course, if you are interested in the easiest way to deploy and upgrade IBF solutions, you want to implement an IBF Server. But many folks are concerned with the need for a dedicated box running Windows 2003 and IIS 6. In fact, I have heard some people say that the single server is more of a restraint on adoption than the requirement for Office 2003 Professional on all of the client machines. That kind blows me away but somehow that also makes sense.

So I am tellin? ya now ? you don?t need no stinkin? server to roll out IBF solutions! Now of course I ain?t supplying all the details here ?cus I heard MSFT is coming out with documentation on how to do this. But I will give you a hint: Metadata Cache.

So no server? No worries ? IBF will run client only... Now go, write some code.
