Just found this very nice online presentation by Stephen Elop, President of Microsoft's Business Division. He lays out his vision of how Microsoft can help increase productivity in our daily lives. In this economy, companies that step forward and show leadership in these tough times will be better situated to thrive in the years to come. The video showcases some of the technologies that Microsoft is working on that can help.

According to a recent study by the Gartner Group of more than 1,500 CIOs, business intelligence is the #1 technology priority for the coming year. In the Gartner report "Meeting the Challenge: The 2009 CIO Agenda" (http://www.gartner.com/it/page.jsp?id=855612), the CIOs interviewed have a combined budget of more than $138 billion in corporate and public-sector IT spending, encompassing 1,527 enterprises across 48 countries and 30 industries. BI will aid the CIOs raise visibility and enhance workforce effectiveness. Interestingly, the survey also found that business intelligence ranks 4th on average in top business priorities across the 1500+ organizations. Business Intelligence continues to be the top priority of IT and is quickly becoming the top priority for non-IT executives as well.

I'm just starting to dig into ASP.Net's Dynamic Data and it's turning out to a huge timesaver for our project. Over the weekend I attended a very nice panel introducing the audience to Dynamic Data. The presenter, Craig Shoemaker, put up the slideshow and sample code online. Enjoy!

I ran across this very cool demo of the future of business intelligence! The video below has a demo of the BI demo system called "Falcon Eye". It utilizes Microsoft Surface to overlay KPIs, scorecards, and other data visualization on a three dimensional map.
